Who we are
Our website addresses are: https://shortfloat.com and https://forum.shortfloat.com
What personal data I collect and why I collect it
When visitors leave comments on the forum (forum.shortfloat.com), we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the forum and/or website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website. I personally don’t care about EXIF data, but you should know and be careful with that.
If you use my contact form, the data is stored/processed so your message can get to me — It’s not rocket science, I’m not harvesting data or anything.
If you leave a comment on our forum, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in to the forum, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
I use Google Analytics, it helps me figure out what content to publish next. But honestly, it’s more for validation than anything else.
Who I share your data with
Me, myself, and I — I don’t share your data with anyone. The way I share your data is by doing things like saying to my girlfriend, “Hey! I just had a visitor from Norway on my website!” And she rolls her eyes and gives me a cookie, like I did a good job or something.
How long I retain your data
If you leave a comment on the forum, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
Where I send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Your contact information
I’m not a magician, I can’t extract your contact data from you, nor do I want to. Anything you submit yourself to the forum becomes forum data. If you put a real contact, cool; if you put a fake one, that’s cool too.
How I protect your data
We use https? That helps (or so I’ve heard)
What data breach procedures I have in place
I use strong passwords and protect against xpath injects. Honestly, I’m a one-man show and I really don’t want/need your data.
What third parties I receive data from
0, I don’t receive, nor seek, data from any third party (that I know of).
What automated decision making and/or profiling I do with user data
None. I’d like to set up an automated Mailchimp eventually, but for now there’s no automation or profiling.
Industry regulatory disclosure requirements
I am part of the Big Volleyball Conglomerate. What that means is that I’m here to brainwash all volleyball players into becoming better volleyball players and stop them from eating fast food before practice. We’re a giant club that believes if you pancake a ball, you’re just lazy and you should move your feet sooner.
